Cheers of “This is our house!” rang through Fairland Aquatic Center in Laurel as soon as Gonzaga senior Ollie Bernasek touched the wall to win the 100-yard freestyle.

Though the Washington Metropolitan Prep School Swim Dive League (WMPSSDL) championship meet was only halfway over after that race, the Eagles were confident they would secure their 10th consecutive title. Indeed, once the water settled, Gonzaga again held the trophy, finishing with 477 points in the boys’ competition to beat out second-place Georgetown Prep (398) and third-place DeMatha (184).
