DCSAA’s Spring Sports Cancelled Due to Coronavirus
Washington, DC – Due to the ongoing public health emergency regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), D.C. Mayor Muriel E. Bowser announced Friday (4-17) that school buildings will remain closed through the academic year. The District of Columbia State Athletic Association’s (DCSAA) 2020 Spring Sports Season is canceled.

DCSAA will continue to work alongside the Office of the Mayor to keep our member schools, student athletes and families healthy and safe. Therefore, the DCSAA continues with no sport activities for member schools.

“We are disappointed for those student-athletes who will not have the opportunity to compete and showcase their skills during their senior season. But we fully support the Mayor’s decision and recognize the importance we collectively play in helping to flatten this curve and stop the spread of this deadly virus,” said Clark Ray, DCSAA Executive Director. “People need to follow all the recommendations issued by the CDC, the District of Columbia Department of Health, and the Mayor. The health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches and school administrators are our number one priority.”

We ask you to follow the Office of the Mayor’s tips for staying healthy: wash your hands for at least twenty (20) seconds and stay home if you are feeling sick. You can review the rest of the Mayor’s tips and all updates at coronavirus.dc.gov.
