WASHINGTON, D.C. – Physician and health policy expert Dr. Vin Gupta will join students, parents and high school athletics supporters on Thursday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m. ET, for a DMV Town Hall to discuss the facts concerning COVID-19 and the challenges facing interscholastic athletics in the National Capital Region and beyond.
Registration is free and available to all students, parents and high school athletics supporters on a first-come, first-served basis at https://covid19withdrgupta.eventbrite.com. The conversation will be hosted by Chad Ricardo.
“The current global health crisis has created an unprecedented situation throughout our lives,” DCSAA Executive Director Clark Ray said. “With so many unknowns and so much information being dispersed, it is important to learn as much as possible about the evolving landscape so that everyone can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.”
Dr. Gupta, who is a regular public health analyst for NBC News, the New York Times, CNN and other media outlets, has spent the 15 years working worldwide to improve public health for organizations including the US Centers for Disease Control, the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, the Harvard Global Health Institute, the World Health Organization, and the Pentagon’s Center for Global Health Engagement. Given his diversity of experiences, he is now a trusted advisor and contributor to national and international media outlets on several of the most important health issues today.
“I look forward to joining everyone in the DMV and beyond to share what the medical community has learned about COVID-19,” Gupta said. “Because we continue to deal with so many unknowns, it is vital that everyone remain vigilant, continue to wear masks when near others in public and make smart decisions.”
