Proposed Bill Could Give D.C. State Athletic Association Full Oversight Of Citywide High School Athletics

A D.C. city council member has introduced a bill that, if enacted, would give the D.C. State Athletic Association complete oversight over all of the District’s interscholastic sports.

The District of Columbia State Athletics Consolidation Act of 2016, proposed by council member Brianne Nadeau (D-Ward 1) on Tuesday, would formally bring all of the city’s athletics operations and management under the authority of the DCSAA and set up a governing board with representatives from D.C. Public Schools, the Public Charter School Board and participating independent schools.
