The pitch from Ivy League recruiters that Sidwell Friends boys’ basketball star Jelani Williams finds increasingly enticing is really very straightforward. As Williams explained it, following a session during the Victor Oladipo all-American camp at DeMatha last week, both of his parents are educators and his serious interest in Pennsylvania and Princeton ultimately speaks to why he’s playing the game.
“They pitch you where you can play four years of basketball and then you’re set for life, whether you want to play professionally or go get a job,” Williams said. “That’s appealing to me and my family because that’s what it’s all about.”
