McKinley Tech junior Ruth Tesfai laughed when Coach Nathaniel Metts told her about the dream that jolted him out of a sound sleep after nodding off earlier this week.
“I jumped up out of my chair,” Metts said. In the dream “she had just won the championship.”
Tesfai knew she would be competitive in Thursday’s D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association cross-country championship race from training with the Wilson girls over the summer. Still, Tesfai had tempered expectations entering the race. Metts, on the other hand, had no doubts.
