The phone call usually comes a few hours before kickoff, and junior Teyonte McKenzie will use it as an opportunity to remind former Bell tailback Charles Brooks that he’s coming after his rushing record. Brooks will give it right back, a mentor unwilling to completely cede the spotlight to his alma mater’s newest star.
“It’s always a little fronting to it, but I know he wants the best for me,” McKenzie said Sunday. “He’s like a big brother to me.”
