Jarome Johnson Has A Stronger Support System For Emerging Eastern

If all goes as planned, Eastern senior Jarome Johnson will eventually convince some college coach to give him a chance to play quarterback at the next level. But he has also come to terms with being viewed simply as an athlete because of the way he freelances behind the line of scrimmage to create big plays with his arm and his feet.

It was with this in mind that Coach Jason Strickland decided to experiment during training camp. Back-up quarterback Jalen Young had shown promise and the Ramblers’ receivers were inexperienced. So Johnson moved to wide receiver for a season-opening loss to Martinsburg (W. Va.), the position he initially played as a freshman, after more than three years as a prolific signal caller in the District.
