With big smiles, the Taylor sisters stood for a picture together in front of the net. Their St. John’s volleyball team had just won the D.C. State Athletic Association championship for a fourth straight year with a commanding three-set win over the Model Secondary School for the Deaf and the mood was celebratory.
On the right half of the posing pair was Nia, a senior middle blocker for whom this victory marked the end of a tradition that lasted her entire high school career. On the left was Nicole, a freshman outside hitter who helped ensure that streak was kept alive Friday night and who will try to keep it alive for years to come
