The chants of “Get more transfers” and “Plank can’t buy that,” emanated from the Gonzaga student section when the Eagles’ 45-35 win over St. John’s last Saturday was secure.
On the sideline, Eagles running back Tyree Randolph smiled and laughed like the rest of his teammates because he knew what the students were referencing. These were direct — albeit light-hearted — shots at Under Armour founder and St. John’s benefactor Kevin Plank, among the thousands in attendance at Paint Branch High, and the influx of highly touted players that arrived on the Cadets’ campus in time for football season this fall.
