Evelyn Gray can sense the glare from the bench when she sneaks up to the net. She knows that Maret Coach Liz Hall doesn’t want her there, not yet at least. But the Frogs senior, two months removed from a stress fracture in her femur, can’t help but put forward anyway, usually without even thinking about it, she said.

“It’s definitely frustrating,” said Gray, a Harvard volleyball commit. “I want to go up and score every point.”

With a mix of height, athleticism and skill, the 5-foot-11 lefty has the tools to attack on every point. As an outside hitter, she was named the 2014 D.C. Gatorade Player of the Year and earned ISL AA all-league honors the previous three seasons.
