Aisha Sheppard shook her head and shoulder shimmied at the center court circle, trying to forget about the whistle that negated her defensive effort on the previous possession.
It was one of the few plays Tuesday night that didn’t go the St. John’s senior’s way, but even then she couldn’t help but crack a smile.
The disappointment didn’t last long. Moments later, the 5-foot-10 guard bailed the Cadets’ offense out of a tough possession by pulling up from about 30 feet and splashing a deep three-pointer. Then she turned to the student section and celebrated with the No. 2 Cadets well on their way to snapping top-ranked Paul VI’s 37-game win streak.
