Asia Coates is a competitive person, and she says that there have been times when in the heat of the moment, her emotions have taken her out of the game. But it’s been happening less and less of late. The Wilson junior has learned not only that cooler heads prevail but also that Grandma knows best, and that has allowed her to stay on the court and have an impact on the game in the way she knows she can.

“Honestly, I talk to my grandma about it,” Coates said. “I ask myself what I can do differently.”
