Knights seek to retain Class AA Title

Friendship Collegiate Coach Mike Hunter wasn’t pleased after his team beat Wilson, 28-14, in the DCSAA Class AA semifinal on Saturday, and he let the Knights (8-3) know it in their postgame huddle.

“This is the same team you already beat, 45-0,” Hunter told them. “They didn’t get better. They actually lost players, and the score is closer. That’s on us, so you all need to come with a new focus on Monday because this is our last chance. It’s all or nothing.”

While the final score Saturday afternoon wasn’t as impressive as the No. 10 Knights’ season-opening blowout against the Tigers (6-6), it allowed the squad to advance to the championship game against Ballou on Saturday.

“Ballou is a very talented and well-coached football team,” Hunter said. “We’ve got to come out with better intensity and attention to detail.”
